The heart of the Teledyne Laars Mighty Therm is its integral finned copper heat exchanger, having nine times the surface area for heat transfer as a smooth tube of equal length.

The low water volume design practically eliminates standby losses, and the Mighty Therm operates at temperatures as low as 41 Deg C. without condensation.

Teledyne Laars Mighty Therm is engineered to provide maximum efficiencies up to 82% for hydronic heating, domestic water and industrial process heating. Each type is available in a broad range of sizes with a wide selection of precise controls designed to meet various applications.
Sizes range from 51.3 Kw to 1465 Kw. A choice of on/off firing, multi-stage firing, continuous fuel modulation and multi-boiler operation combines with options and accessories to meet all special code and insurance requirements.

Volume Water Applications

Model VW - Volume Water Heater

Volume Water Heater is completely assembled at the factory and simple to install. Sizes 51.3 to 117.2kw can be ordered either indoor or outdoor and are used in conjunction with storage wherever a large volume of hot water is required, such as apartments/condominiums, hotels, schools, hospitals and laundries.

Model PW - Volume Water Heater with Pump

The addition of a factory mounted and matched pump provides installation and operation advantages of a packaged system. Pumps are sized for pressure drop through the heat exchanger plus 9.1 M of full sized pipe equal to flange connections and normal fittings. Available in inputs from 51.3 to 534.7 Kw for indoor or outdoor applications.

Model IW - Instantaneous Volume Hot Water

Designed to deliver hot water using building piping instead of a storage tank. Suitable for applications with load diversity such as apartments/condominiums and motels. Available in indoor and outdoor models sized from 146.5 to 534.7 Kw input.

Hydronic Heating Applications

Model HH - Hydronic Boiler

This is a reliable, high efficiency space heating boiler with a wide range of control options. It is completely assembled at the factory and easy to install. The Teledyne Laars copper finned tube concept is at the heart of the Model HH. The high efficiency heat exchanger, together with long life stainless steel burners and control options, provide fast response, load matching and energy conservation for the best approach to space or process heating. Available in inputs from 51.3 to 1465 Kw, the mighty Therm can be installed as an individual boiler or in multiple units.

Model PH - Hydronic Boiler with Pump

This model embodies all the features of the Model HH plus a factory mounted and matched boiler circulating pump. This model is intended for use in "primary-secondary" systems, which utilize a primary pump to circulate heated water through the system and a separate pump to circulate water through the boiler. The model PH provides package convenience for primary-secondary design, variable flow, multiple boiler and low temperature applications. Available with inputs from 51.3 to 534.7 Kw.
 

MIGHTY THERM FEATURES - All models

Greater energy efficiency as high as 82% are achieved through state-of-the-art design. Efficient heat transfer and reduced standby losses result in lower operating costs. Mighty Therms energy efficiency has been tested by both AGA Laboratories and the Canadian Gas Association.

Design-certified by American Gas Association Laboratories under ANSI Standard Z21.13, and Canadian Gas Association standards. Boilers may be specified for use with natural or propane gas.

Indoor and outdoor models are available for maximum application flexibility.

Working pressure of 160 psi is standard in accordance with Section IV ASME boiler and Pressure vessel code. Units are factory tested at 400 psi and registered with the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors or the applicable Canadian provincial jurisdiction.

Integral finned copper tubes meeting ASME specification SB 75 are rolled directly into headers. Heat exchanger baffles and an eight-fins-per-inch tubing configuration extract combustion heat with maximum efficiency.

Heat exchanger headers conform to Article 2, part HC of ASME Code. External head covers are field removable for complete inspection of tubing and header passages. Heat exchanger is replaceable without disassembly of burners or combustion chamber.

Pressure relief valve is ASME rated and is selected to provide discharge capacity in excess of unit heat input.

Combustion chamber is Teledyne Laars lightweight cast refractory utilising calcium aluminate cement with 1093 Deg C working temperature.

Burners are atmospheric type constructed of AISI alloy 430 (sizes 175-1825) or AISI alloy 439 (sizes 2000-5000) stainless steel.

Controls meet requirements of ANSI Standard Z21.13 and the Canadian Gas Association standards and include ignition safeguard, manual rest high limit, operating temperature control, gas pressure regulator, redundant electric gas valve ( optional Canada), water flow sensing, and manual gas shut-off valve. Standard control systems operates on 24VAC power from class 2 transformer. Ignition safeguard reacting to flame failure in less than 0.8 second is standard on units above 117.2 Kw.

Chassis and jacket parts are galvanized steel meeting ASTM Standard G90 coating. Exterior is finished in acrylic paint, thermoset at 163 Deg C.

The warranty provides complete protection : one year on materials and workmanship for controls, combustion chamber, pump and tank (if provided); five year warranty on heat exchanger tubes (warranted against thermal shock for the life of the boiler); and five years on all other parts.
