Tekmar are North America’s leading specialist in Heating Controls. They are manufactured to the highest standards in Vernon, Canada.

A Tekmar controller is the central brain of a heating system. It coordinates the different components to supply heat to baseboard zones, radiant floor zones, a domestic hot water tank, and perhaps a spa or snow melting slab. The control measures both the indoor and outdoor temperatures in order to ensure a comfortable energy efficient indoor environment.

By use of an outdoor sensor which measures the outdoor temperature the control can adjust the heat required before the house is too hot or too cold. This is important because standard controls which rely on sensing indoor temperature only are late to react to temperature changes caused by a change of outdoor weather conditions. This results in "lag" or delayed heat response when the outdoor temperature falls, or "overshoot" being overheating when the outdoor temperature rises. That is, indoor temperature monitors have inertia and are slow to compensate for outdoor temperature changes. Temperature "lag" and "overshoot" result in uncomfortable and inefficient heating.

Tekmar has a huge range of controls. Some of these are summarised here :

TEKMAR 262 Boiler control featuring lead/lag control of 2 boilers. This control will
operate 2 boilers simultaneously, switching the boilers in and out of  use as heating is required.  Additionally, on a preset basis, the control will rotate the lead boiler, so that over time the load on each boiler is generally equal.
TEKMAR 371 This boiler controls heat to a secondary heating loop by way of an injection pump. The unit variably speed drives the injection pump to allow hot water from the primary loop to the secondary loop. The real benefit of this control is the simplicity of the pipework layout and the economy of the installation. The injection pump replaces a traditional 3 or 4 way valve which is considerably more expensive and prone to mechanical failure. It also reduce stress on the components.
